This painting is from an image that is not my own. I felt very drawn to the woman in this image; she gives me a sense of peace. I always feel a connection to the people I paint. In a way, it's a strange feeling slowly bringing someone to life in a painting. Sita took me over a year to paint. Sometimes I'd spend hours a night painting for weeks and then not at all for a month. She travelled with me on camping trips and has lived in a couple different homes. Sita will always be one of my favourite paintings from the sheer bond I formed with her in the painting process.
